Break off any visible insulation or glue holding the coil to the transformer. Drive the screwdriver or pry bar into the gap above the primary coil to slowly work it out. Repeat this on the left and right sides of the top and bottom. With the insulation and glue the wires will be very snug with the transformer core.
You will need tools to take apart a microwave, your bare hands won't work. :-) A set of screw drivers with different shapes and sizes.
